Foster & Adoption Ministry
We have all heard that “it takes a village to raise a child” and anyone who has ever raised a child would attest to the truth of this statement. When it comes to adoptive and foster families, finding a village of support is vital for their success. As a church, we can become a village that loves and supports the families in our congregation and community who have been called to foster care and adoption. In James 1:27 is says “Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father is this: to care for orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.” So, the question is not “is God calling me to care for orphans?” but rather “how is God calling me to care for orphans?”. Not everyone will be called to bring a child into their home or to adopt, but as a church we can be ready to support families through the challenges of foster care and adoption. It is my hope that with the proper support, these challenges wouldn’t turn into crises.
Our Ministry
As a ministry of missio Dei, our heart is to be a resource to equip adoptive in the times of questioning, a safety net of support in the times of heartbreak, a source of encouragement in the times of exhaustion and an endless source of prayer without judgment.
